Bits & Pieces about Harry Potter
Did you know ... ?
9/15:
- Professor McGonagall was quite angry with Dumbledore in Chapter 1 (waiting on a wall for a whole day).
- Sirius Black was first mentioned in Chapter 3 by Hagrid (borrowing his motorcycle).
- Harry kept saying "Vol- sorry," at first, maybe because he grew up in a Muggle family with not the slightest bit of fear for Voldemort.
9/22:
- When Hermione first appeared, she sounded exactly like Professor McGonagall, and she stated that she wanted to go to Gryffindor, and that Ravenclaw is only not bad. (Perhaps that's the main reason she went to Gryffindor.)
9/23:
- It took the Sorting Hat a minute to decide for Hermione, and even longer for Neville. On the other hand, those who worry most, like Ron and Malfoy, have nothing to worry at all, as the Sorting Hat placed them with their family House without hesitation.
9/24:
- Charlie Weasley was the last Seeker for Gryffindor who was a good one, and McGonagall said that "Even Charlie Weasley couldn't have done that" when Harry caught the Neville's Remembrall in the sky. And Charlie was the last Seeker who won the Quidditch Cup for Gryffindor before Harry.
9/28:
- The Mirror of Erised is so powerful that it almost turned Harry and Ron against each other.
Good Sentences

9/23:

- "Another Weasley, eh? I spent half o' my life chasing your brothers out of the Forbidden Forest, yeh know." --Hagrid
9/24:

"Ok, please."
"NOTHING! Haha! I told you I wouldn't say nothing if you don't say please!"

Loopholes (big & small)
9/15:
- So did Harry wear that glasses with Sellotape from start to end? (I don't remember him buying a new one?)
- Hagrid could turn Dudley into a pig (at least he attempted), and he only had 3 years in Hogwarts. So what had all others been doing? (Could Harry do that when he was in 3rd grade?)
9/22:
- When the first grades waited for sorting, a ghost said, "What are you doing here?" , so what had he been doing all these years as a ghost? Didn't he remember anything?
9/23:
- Dumbledore was telling everybody to sing the school song after the start-of-term banquet. Has it been sang ever since?
- Snape took a point off Gryffindor twice in Harry's first Potions class. No point that's not a multiple of 5 was taken or given from then on, not even 10, with a few exceptions.
9/24:
- The door to the forbidden corridor was opened by Hermione by a simple Alhomora. So? What's the point of locking it if it can be opened by such a simple charm?
9/29:
- So does each house play two games in a Quidditch season for the Cup or three? In the first book, Gryffindor only played twice (against Slytherin and Hufflepuff), but in the third book, Wood said, "then we'll win the game but lose the Cup", so it's the scores that matters, so what's the point of playing only two games?
- Harry got in the Quidditch team in his first flying class (by accident), and then? Where are the rest flying classes? (At least Ron or Hermione or anyone else mentioned in the book hadn't attended any)
10/11:
- How on earth did the seven poison bottles stay as it were after Quirrell got in while the troll was knocked down?
- The writer seemed to have forgotten to tell which of the bottles were the biggest or smallest...
10/16:
- Quirrell was able to conjure up a rope in mid-air with a wave of his hand. Could even Dumbledore have done that?
Other thoughts...
9/15:
- What's the point of duelling if you can kill the other with just one Avada Kedavra?
9/16:
- It seems that Gringotts was much less convenient than our current bank system, I wonder how they could stand all these underground cars ...
9/17:
- The Dursleys were laughing when they left Harry at King's Cross. So they somehow figured out Harry found his way to Platform Nine and Three quarters, right? (I'd like to see their confused expressions when Harry didn't show up for a week or so)
9/24:
- So it was Malfoy who made Harry, Ron and Hermione come together for the first time. It's hard for students who go on a nightly exertion (no matter for what reason) not to become friends afterwards, you know.
9/28:
- Dumbledore found out about Harry and Ron visiting the Mirror of Erised for three days in a row. So he has the time to stalk for Harry and Ron for three whole days? (I guess he's enjoying himself in the mirror, you know.)
